Golden milk

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups unsweetened almond milk (or any milk of your choice)

  • 1 tsp ground turmeric

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger (or 1/2 inch fresh ginger, grated)

  • 1/8 tsp ground black pepper (helps with the absorption of turmeric)

  • 1 tsp coconut oil (optional for extra creaminess)

  • 1-2 tsp honey or maple syrup (to taste)

  • A pinch of ground nutmeg (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat the milk:

    • In a small saucepan, heat the almond milk over medium heat until it starts to simmer, but don’t let it boil.

  2. Add the spices:

    • Whisk in the turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, and coconut oil (if using). If you prefer using fresh ginger, grate it directly into the saucepan. Continue to whisk for 2-3 minutes to combine the spices well.

  3. Sweeten:

    • Stir in the honey or maple syrup, adjusting the sweetness to your preference.

  4. Simmer and infuse:

    • Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for another 5 minutes, allowing the spices to fully infuse into the milk.

  5. Strain (optional):

    • If you used fresh ginger or if you want a smoother texture, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into your mug.

  6. Serve:

    • Pour the golden milk into a mug and sprinkle with a little nutmeg or cayenne pepper on top if you like. Serve warm.

Enjoy your Golden Milk, a warming, nourishing drink with the power of turmeric!
